DCN Talks to…Rhys Lewis

DCN talks to Rhys Lewis, Business Development Director | UKMEA & Europe, Revizto

DCN: Can you tell us a little about yourself and your role in the built environment?

RL: My name is Rhys Lewis and for those who don’t know me, I like to sing. I also really enjoy my role as a technology evangelist which has evolved considerably over the last 12 years. The key thing for me about what I do and really enjoy is quite simple: making people’s lives that little bit easier. Technology now touches everyone in the built environment with the vast amounts of solutions available. Having the right tool is important but what’s crucial is having a tool that can be utilised by the majority of the project team not just the handful of experts.

DCN: What for you is the most exciting thing about working in the built environment?

RL: Allowing project teams both internal and external to speak a common language in terms of technology.

DCN: What challenge in your work life would you  most like a technology or process to help solve?

RL:
My ever-growing to-do list. It would be nice to have something help manage and track what it is I have done, or more importantly need to do. Open to suggestions…

DCN: Tell us about a recent innovation or technology that you’ve been most impressed by?

RL:
I recently visited a customer site where they have installed a virtual reality dome by Igloo Vision. The igloo is proving to be a very useful tool to help engage so many different people within the organisation with understanding how this new water treatment plant is going to look and operate. With so many complications in this very challenging project having the ability to go onsite virtually and understand the design is helping the project team and stakeholders make better design decisions.

DCN: What do you fear or struggle with the most in terms of technology?

RL: I like to embrace as much technology as I can. This is difficult because there is so much and sometimes choosing what’s right for you can be difficult.

DCN: What is  Digital Construction to you and why is it important?

RL: Digital Construction for me is about enabling project teams to deliver even better projects to their clients, more efficiently and ahead of schedule.

DCN: What does the next 12 months have in store for you?

RL: Working closely with our key users and development team to ensure our product continues to develop based on what our customers are asking for.

DCN: What is your favourite sci-fi movie?

RL: I’d much prefer to go to an open-mic night!
